Top Marks for Hilda!

Thursday, July 21, 2011

Employees at White Knight Laundry in Woking are greeted each day with the smiling face of Hilda Finnegan. Hilda has worked at White Knight for over 22 years and for much of that time has run the company canteen. Hilda creates a culinary cache of home-cooked meals, sandwiches and mouth-watering cakes plus sumptuous buffets for special occasions. However, it’s not all about the menu.

The day-to-day running of a busy canteen requires continual work in health, safety and management. Recently, Hilda’s kitchen at White Knight has been awarded an impressive five stars in Food Hygiene Rating by the Woking Council. The criteria includes hygiene, level of structure, management and control procedures and the implementation of staff food safety certificates.

Hilda was presented with the coveted five star food rating certificate from Councillor Mrs. Beryl Hunwicks. Also in attendance, Sarah Appleby, Head of Enforcement and Local Authority Delivery Division from the Food Standards Agency and Emma Doherty, Environmental Health Manager from Woking Borough Council’s Environmental Health Service. Hilda commented, ‘It’s extremely satisfying to receive the 5 star rating. It’s recognition of all the hard work we put in to provide a clean and safe environment every day.’

White Knight provides a domestic laundry and dry cleaning service as well as textile rental and laundry service to customers in all business sectors; bed linen, table linen and chefswear for hotels and restaurants; boilersuits for engineering companies;dustmats and cabinet towels for all types of operation.
